Epic Games has removed the Infinity Blade series from Apple's App Store

Epic Games reasoning for removing the Infinity Blade trilogy was that the team is spread too thin between the development of a PC and mobile title called Spyjinx and "other projects". Current owners will continue to be able to play these games, and download* them to their devices from an account that owns them, for the foreseeable future.

Infinity Blade is an RPG series exclusive to Apple's iOS devices.

Considering that Epic Games is making a ridiculous amount of money from Fortnite, it's hard to believe that the company can't make the necessary effort to support what many think are some of the best mobile games around.

Eight years ago, Infinity Blade was seen as the fastest grossing app of all time, earning an estimated $1.6 million Dollars in sales-in just four days (it beat the previous $1 million in 10 days record by Cut the Rope). After shutting down one of its other PvP games, Paragon, Epic Games announced less than a week ago that it has stopped working on the Unreal Tournament reboot.

After pleading guilty to the manslaughter charge in 2006, Petty served seven years of a 10-year sentence. He was reportedly released in 2013, and likely went on being closely supervised for five more years.

The removal of the Infinity Blade games comes after Epic Games founder Tim Sweeney suggested that the company was far from happy with Apple's policies, bringing them up in a recent interview.

"At Epic we strive to put players first and to provide a supported, full-fledged experience in every game we publish". The announcement closes out with a tease asking fans to stay on the look for Infinity Blade to appear in unexpected places.

The teaser Epic shared today shows the Ice King (that charming looking fellow in the image above) pulling the Infinity Blade from the ground, with accompanying text that says "Coming soon... a weapon fit for a king".
