Race row erupts after guards allegedly clear Cape Town beach of black people

"We are at the beach just to check if all is in order".

"These private security guards are hired by the Clifton (residents), they are actually briefed to not allow black people who appear to look like they are from the townships or criminals onto the beach", he told the News 24 website.

The ANC secretary in the Western Cape, Faiez Jacobs, was among those moved from the beach on Sunday, and he has since condemned what happened. "Therefore, we are inviting people of all colour, the residents of Clifton as well to join us as we slaughter a sheep tomorrow (today), braai and enjoy this space".

The security company denied claims that its guards closed down the beach, stating that they were accompanying City of Cape Town law enforcement officers after two teenage girls were allegedly raped.

She said she felt the entire matter had been blown out of proportion.

The company's legal representative says it has an unwritten agreement with the city to help it with law enforcement.

Tesla names former Oracle exec to board as part of SEC settlement
This fall, California became the first US state to mandate that publicly traded companies have women on their boards. The SEC said the claim was "false and misleading", and chose to sue him for alleged securities fraud.

"The city has at no stage given any authority to PPA to enforce by-laws", Cape Town's director for safety and security Richard Bosman said in a statement. "If they act outside of their mandate, the city will take the action that it deems necessary under the circumstances". "Another concern is that there were more reports of these beaches being closed last night (Wednesday) and the City has said nothing".

Hendricks said it was "unfortunate" the matter had been turned into a political and racial incident, when numerous security guards were people of colour.

"Preliminary findings of the SAPS investigation indicate that no rape was registered at Camps Bay SAPS".

However, she said police had information suggesting there had been an attempt to sexually assault a 15-year-old girl, which was prevented by beachgoers who reported the incident to police.

He said the organisation had lawyers on standby in case there was any trouble.
