Addressing the rally, RSS leader "Bhaiyyaji" Joshi invoked the 1992 Babri Mosque demolition and said that the "work was left incomplete".

Causing a frenzy in a crowd of more than 200,000 people, Hindu seers made a series of fiery speeches laced with religious overtones to demand action paving the way for a temple in the northern town of Ayodhya.

Some carried maces and tridents - weapons traditionally wielded by Hindu gods - and travelled great distances by train and bus to reach the rally. We are not begging for it. Joshi is also the executive head of the RSS.

If in any case the bill does not come in this winter session, then future course of action will be decided at the next "dharam sansad", which will be held in Allahabad on the sidelines of "mahakumbh" on January 31 and February 1, next year, its general secretary Surendra Jain said.

"We have a very clear demand and we do not want to compromise on it".

The VHP said the rally will be an attempt to give a clarion call to the Union government to enact a legislation, if need be, for the construction of the temple.

Denver also got 17 points and 10 rebounds from Juancho Hernangomez , and Malik Beasley came off the bench to scored 19 points. The 13-year veteran is averaging 13.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game so far this season, his second with the Nuggets .

As several busloads of people brought in from the countryside alighted, VHP activists shouted slogans of 'Vande Mataram', 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' and 'Jai Shree Ram'. It is not only our wish but also responsibility of the government and Parliament.

Thousands of people gathered at Ramlila Maidan for the Vishwa Hindu Parishad rally, which comes ahead of Parliament's winter session commencing Tuesday. The outreach campaign is scheduled on 18-26 December.

The site in Ayodhya was home to a medieval mosque for 460 years until a Hindu mob tore it down in 1992, kicking off riots across India that left thousands dead, a lot of them Muslims.

Hindu groups insist that there was a temple at the site before the mosque was built in 1528 by a Muslim ruler. "The government should understand the sentiments of the devotees of Lord Ram", said Vinod Bansal, another senior VHP leader.

A close ally of Modi´s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the group is spearheading a push to raise the Ram temple, and is calling for more protests as the premier prepares to go to the polls by May.

VHP leaders organised similar meetings of Hindu religious leaders at seven places on November 25, including Ayodhya, Nagpur and Mangaluru, to press for a bill to construct the temple. VHP leaders said any initiative taken by the Muslim community for the early construction of the temple will bring harmony between the majority and minority communities.
