For fans lucky enough to attend Brazil's CCPX, the comic convention went big this year with surprises.

One of the more interesting thematic considerations going into Godzilla: King of the Monsters is characters, including Serizawa.

Godzilla was first introduced in 1954's Gojira, but his greatest villain didn't appear until 1964's Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster, which introduced the winged, Typhon-like monstrosity as an extraterrestrial, who had already destroyed the Venusian civilization.

In G: KotM, the iconic giant lizard is joined by the three-headed King Ghidorah, the insect Mothra, and another flying monster, Rodan, who in the original Japanese movies could create hurricane-force winds. The sequel to the 2014 American franchise relaunch comes from Trick 'r Treat and Krampus filmmaker Michael Dougherty and stars Stranger Things breakout Millie Bobby Brown alongside Vera Farmiga and Kyle Chandler in another city-stomping monster epic. Or scoffing at the idea of joining Team Godzilla as his famous foes - Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah - rise to lay claim to this world.

Following the global success of "Godzilla" and "Kong: Skull Island" comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Whoever the new titan alpha is, it doesn't have to be humanity's enemy - or does it?
