Kevin Hart may have alienated some in Hollywood over his recently resurfaced homophobic tweets, but that didn't stop "Weekend Update" co-host Michael Che from cracking some jokes in support of Hart on December 8's "Saturday Night Live".

"Didn't the Academy nominate Mel Gibson for an award just past year?" However, the Academy nominated him for best director Oscar for his 2017 war film "Hacksaw Ridge".

Gibson, however, did apologize for those remarks.

Saturday Night Live's Michael Che is the latest comedian to defend Kevin Hart after he stepped down from hosting the 91st Academy Awards amid backlash surrounding his homophobic Twitter history.

Kevin Hart is brushing off the Oscar uproar by returning to the stage for sold-out shows in Australia. President of advocacy organization #GLAAD, Sarah Kate Ellis, tweeted that Hart should have "stepped up" after his tweets resurfaced from almost a decade ago.

Actor-rapper Nick Cannon rose to comedian Kevin Hart's defence by calling out female comedians who had used anti-gay slurs on their own handles.

Many felt like it was a missed opportunity for the comedian to use his platform for the greater good.

He also spent his Friday scouring through Sarah Silverman's tweets and found one from 2010, that read, "I don't mean this in a hateful way but the new Bachelorette's a f--t".

Cannon also embedded a 2012 tweet from Schumer reading, "Enjoy skyfall f--".
