LeBron: Final matchup vs. Wade will be 'sweet, sour'

Dwyane Wade and Le Bron James

Dwyane Wade and Le Bron James

His newborn daughter, Kaavia James Union Wade, is there with his wife Gabrielle Union, so the trip to L.A.is a chance for Wade to see them for the first time in a couple of weeks.

Over his 16 seasons, Wade has experienced just about as much as any player possibly could. We struck up a relationship together at the combine in 2003, and it started from there.

"I'm not going to sit here and tell you, "Oh, it's another one of 82".

James and Wade re-joined forces years later in Cleveland but the fit next to James proved to be an odd mix, so Wade agreed to deal with management that would send him back to Miami.

The rematch on Monday will be the final time James and Miami guard Dwyane Wade will be on the floor together. Wade is now playing his 16th season in the National Basketball Association, and all but one and a half of those seasons have been with the Heat.

James and Wade came into the league at the same time, but James isn't close to being ready to walk away like his longtime friend - and former teammate - is.

The veteran guard will play his final regular-season game in Los Angeles on Monday against the Los Angeles Lakers.

"You're always excited to play the Lakers, and obviously, LeBron is there and [it's] our last time matching up, so it's definitely gonna be a little bit extra special than any normal game", Wade said.

Police and protesters also clashed in other French cities, notably Marseille, Toulouse, and Bordeaux, and in neighboring Belgium. Protesters had ripped off the plywood protecting some of the shop windows.

"So, it will definitely mean a lot". From the end of the third until just over three minutes remained, the Heat went on a 25-2 run to take control. In their last outing, they demolished the Los Angeles Clippers, 121-98, on the road.

"I don't even know the significance of 1,000 games", Wade said, via NBA.com. Coming into the game, we really didn't know who was going to play and who wasn't going to play, but we always say, 'It's all we got.

"It's bitter, and it's sweet", said James following the Lakers' 111-88 win over the Memphis Grizzles on Saturday.

Wade, who will turn 37 on January 17, is averaging 14.3 points, 3.4 boards and 3.5 dimes for the Heat, who come into Monday's clash at 10-14 but have won four of their last five games.

"When they show up for shootaround, you find out more guys aren't playing, but (these) guys look forward to the challenge instead of trying to make an excuse and get on to the next game", Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra said.

"Sometimes it's just chemistry", James said. "You hate that it's (on) you sometimes". So I love where I'm at right now, and D-Wade has definitely had a helluva career, obviously. "That might be one of the main things that I'll preach and teach to young players, to be able to show the grit it takes".

Though, as a team, year 16 has yet to go the way Way had hoped so far, tonight offers a unique opportunity of reflection for the 36-year-old. "When we get wins like this, wins in four of our last five, we're getting better". Just basic chatter, especially since it will be our last time.
