Some reports say there was panic after pepper spray was sacked inside the club in the town of Corinaldo.

Rescuers assist injured people outside a nightclub in Corinaldo, central Italy, early Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018. At least 12 people who were injured in the incident are said to be in serious condition.

The ages of the victims were not immediately given and it was not immediately clear how many people were inside when the stampede erupted or the club's maximum capacity.

Three girls, two boys and a mother who had accompanied her child to the event died in the crush. At one point, one of the side barriers collapses under pressure and sends several people falling on each other.

A further 120 people were injured, including around 10 seriously, local media reported, citing local rescue authorities.

China Hails Trump-Xi Summit, Says "Very Confident" in Trade Deal
They say that suggests China will need to find issues on which it can show progress to persuade Trump to extend his deadline. China's ultimate goal during the 90-day trade talks is to remove all USA tariffs imposed on Chinese goods, Gao said.

It appears that the panic began when someone in the club sprayed a "irritant substance", the civil protection agency tweeted. According to Associated Press, one of the survivors said that some of the emergency exits were locked when the attendees tried to escape the building.

"People can not die like this", said Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, who also serves as interior minister.

Firefighters had concentrated on giving first aid to survivors, stretched out on the road outside the club, before starting their investigation, he said.
