Nokia 8.1 to launch in India today: Expected price, specifications

HMD Global is all set to unveil Nokia 8.1, the global variant of Nokia X7 in New Delhi, India at 5:30 pm. The company is scheduled to hold an event in the country later today to announce a new Nokia smartphone and it is largely expected to be the Nokia 8.1. Well, even Finland-based Nokia is in the mix and now it has been revealed it will be launching its most awaited smartphone Nokia 8.1 today.

The Nokia 8.1 price in India can be expected to be similar to the price HMD Global unveiled for Europe and Middle East markets - Euro 399 (roughly Rs. 31,900). In India, however, we expect HMD to launch the device at a more aggressive pricing to take on the competition. The Nokia 8.1 price in India is expected to fall somewhere in between Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000.

Nokia 8.1 is the 2018 successor to Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 in the value flagship category.

The Nokia 8.1 will be offered in three colours - Red, Silver and Blue. HMD Global also points out that the Nokia 8.1 has Google ARCore support.

The Nokia 8.1 sports a 6.18-inch display with a FHD+ (2246x1080) resolution and 18.7:9 aspect ratio. If that also ends up being the Indian price, that's costlier than last year's Nokia 7 Plus model. The LCD panel also offers brightness up to 500 nits. Powering the device is a rather unique Snapdragon 710 processor clocked at 2.2GHz with eight Kryo 360 cores.
