Recall Issued For Infant Ibuprofen Sold At CVS, Walmart And Family Dollar

Tris Pharma said it voluntarily recalled three lots of "Infants' Ibuprofen Concentrated Oral Suspension, USP (NSAID)" on Wednesday because it possibly contained higher amounts of ibuprofen than advertised.

Tris Pharma said there is a "remote possibility" the increased amount of ibuprofen could lead to permanent kidney injury in infants.

The recalled drugs were sold at Walmart, CVS and Family Dollar locations under store-brand names, Tris Pharma said in a statement. Other side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, tinnitus, headache and stomach bleeding.

50 mg per 1.25 ml.

According to the manufacturer, Tris Pharma, the recalled products "have been found to potentially have higher concentrations of ibuprofen".

You should contact your physician or healthcare provider if you have experienced any problems that may be related to taking or using the drug.

Walmart sells the recalled product under the "Equate" label and the National Drug Code (NDC) 49035-125-23; the products being withdrawn have the lot numbers 00717009A, 00717015A and 00717024A on their label.
