Police detain Devoleena Bhattacharjee in murder case

Sachin Pawar, 37, who was arrested for allegedly murdering diamond trader Rajeshwar Udani, 57, was on Sunday produced before the Bhoiwada holiday court and remanded in police custody till December 14.

The probe revealed that six persons including Udani were in the auto. Bhattacharjee was summoned for questioning by the police and was interrogated for hours. Sachin leaving the city four days after the mysterious disappearance of Udani was enough grounds for police to question him.

According to reports, Rajeswar Udhani was missing from November 29, from office and missing complaint was also registered at local police yesterday.

Media reports say detectives believe Mr Udani may have been killed at another location before being dumped in the forest. The initial plan was to honey trap Udani and get a compromising video of him, using which, they could blackmail him. It is being said that the politician Sachin Pawar has been arrested in connection with the case.

Another police source said Sachin's event management company had undertaken videography for Udani's daughter's wedding. The police launched a search for him and his mobile was tracked in Rabale, Navi Mumbai, before it lost signal. He had applied for anticipatory bail in the Supreme Court, which recently rejected it.

Rajeshwar had gone missing on November 29th, and his body was recovered on Friday. "His custody in the rape case ends on Monday, after which, we will be taking his custody in the murder case", the officer said. The police believe Sachin and Dinesh, who became friends because they worked out in the same gym, were planning to blackmail Udani and ended up killing him after an argument. The police said they are on the lookout for the driver of the vehicle in which Udani was beaten up along with two others who were present in the vehicle.

After almost a week, on December 4, since he remained untraced and the family suspected something amiss, police registered a kidnapping case.
