The six-part documentary highlights the varied allegations of mental, physical, and sexual abuse and sexual misconduct of the disgraced singer, and apparently features over 50 interviews with prominent figures like R. Kelly's brothers, ex-wife Andrea Kelly, and John Legend.

"At tonight's premiere of Lifetime's documentary series Surviving R. Kelly at NeueHouse Madison Square, several anonymous threats were called in". As a precaution, the network elected to evacuate the building. The Lifetime production was set to have its premiere in New York City tonight (Dec. 4) but derailed midway through after a threat was placed against the screening's hosting venue.

Burke, who appears in the documentary series and was a panelist at the Tuesday night event, tweeted about the evacuation, suggesting that the harassment Kelly's alleged victims endured is worse than the gun threat, which she tweeted "didn't appear to be credible". This comes after accusations that Kelly runs a sex cult that imprisons women.

aIn attendance for the event was #MeToo founder Tarana Burke along with accusers of the R&B singer.

According to reports, "Several anonymous calls were phoned in", with one caller deliberately making a threat to fire a gun in the audience if the premiere continued. This was an outside inside-job to me; someone on the outside does not want what's going on on the inside to be completed.

An event insider added, "Everyone thinks it was an intimidation tactic from R.Kelly's team to try to silence everyone". "Whoever it came from, they know that this is not a good thing because there's power in numbers". The girls were screaming, 'F-k R.Kelly, I'm sure it was him. The two have been divorced since 2006.

A private screening of an R. Kelly documentary series was abruptly canceled and evacuated in NY due to "several anonymous threats" during the event.
