Heading into the 2018-2019 campaign, the Wolverines, who advanced all the way to the National Championship game last season, were forced with the task of replacing forward Moritz Wagner, who made a decision to take his talents to the NBA. MI ranks first in the country in KenPom's adjusted defensive efficiency, allowing an average of 86.8 points per 100 possessions. MI started at No. 19 before quickly leaping into the top 10 after a blowout win at reigning champ Villanova on November 14.

It's the first time in school history that Furman's cracked the AP rankings. Auburn, Kentucky and Michigan State rounded out the top 10.

As you can see below, there are seven Big Ten teams included in this week's Top 25 poll, with two more teams receiving votes. Outside of not losing a game yet, they've been dominating their top-level competition, beating ranked Villanova, North Carolina, and Purdue teams by at least 17 points each. Sophomore guard Jordan Poole was named Player of the Week after averaging 19.5 points, 5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in both games. The only ones on the outside looking in are 7-0 St. John's and 6-0 Houston, which was held out despite winning at home against previously ranked OR over the weekend.

No. 12 Wisconsin and No. 13 Texas Tech made the biggest jumps of the week. The No. 16 Wildcats tumbled after a loss to Marquette, while the No. 18 Hawkeyes fell after losing to Wisconsin. Arizona State, however, spent much of last season in the poll and peaked at No. 3 last December.

Meanwhile, North Carolina has fallen to the No. 14 spot, and Oregon, Texas and Purdue have crashed out of the Top 25.

New faces in the Top 25 this week include Arizona State, Furman and Nebraska, all of whom have had a strong couple weeks. It is Furman's first AP poll appearance. OR dropped out of the polls this week, as did Purdue and Texas.

While the Boilermakers lost against ranked FSU and MI teams, the Ducks and Longhorns each suffered surprising upsets.
