In fact, the savvy veteran is still expected to report to spring training as scheduled.

Sabathia underwent the procedure on December 11 and will report as scheduled with pitchers and catchers to spring training, the pitcher's agent, Kyle Thousand, told Rosenthal. After noticing chest pain and increased sweating after workouts, Sabathia made a decision to get checked out by doctors.

According to Ken Rosenthal (no subs. req'd), CC Sabathia is expected to be ready for Spring Training after undergoing a heart procedure earlier this month.

CC Sabathia underwent a heart procedure, the Daily News has confirmed from a spokesman from Roc Nation Sports, the agency that represents Sabathia. After undergoing some tests, Sabathia was told that he had a blockage in one of his arteries.

Sabathia, who signed a one-year, $8 million free-agent contract to return to the Yankees on November 7, declined comment.

He had the procedure - which is where doctors insert a stent to open an artery - after experiencing chest pain, acid reflux and an unusual amount of sweating while exercising.

"We will continue to follow the guidance and expertise of the doctors, who have conveyed that CC will report as scheduled to Tampa in February to prepare for the 2019 season", Cashman said.

The Yankees released a statement, saying they are thankful Sabathia went to see the team's medical staff when he did.

This was a fairly normal procedure for a surgeon, but if Sabathia would've ignored these symptoms, this could've ended much worse for him. He is such a dynamic person beyond his excellence on the field, and we will proceed with his health at the forefront of our priorities. Sabathia has already said 2019 will be his final season in baseball. Allen reached Triple-A El Paso for the first time in 2018 and finished his run with a cumulative 2.54 ERA, 3.1 BB/9 and 9.1 SO/9 across 148 2/3 innings in Double- and Triple-A.
