Trisha Paytas improves any video she's in, having her in the Rewind would have been guaranteed comedy gold.

A user with username FeFe commented on the video, "This just shows that YouTube doesn't know what YouTube is all about". This time around, however, Youtube Rewind took a different approach: Instead of developing a summary by themselves, Youtube asked some of the platform's biggest figures to "control rewind". In January, YouTube received backlash after vlogger Logan Paul published a video in which he reacted to a dead body found in Japan's Aokigahara forest. It looks like they aren't the only ones who are disappointed in this year's video.

Google Singapore's head of communications, Ms Angeline Leow, said YouTube is a platform for Singaporeans to be entertained and to express themselves.

"She has millions of fans that are more likely to share and engage on her videos".

All things considered, it's not YouTube's fault these videos are always so awkward - it has to be squeaky clean for a young audience.
