Irving suffered the injury as he and Spurs guard Marco Belinelli attempted to secure a rebound in the fourth quarter of Monday's game.

Coach Brad Stevens told reporters after Boston's 120-111 loss that Irving had "a scratched eye" and will take antibiotics. Belinelli swiped at the ball and hit Irving in the eye, causing him to stay on the floor a short while writhing in pain.

Asked which eye was scratched, Irving - who donned a pair of sunglasses while speaking to the media Monday - said "both".

"[He] smacked the s-- out of me", Irving said. "He just caught me pretty good".

Although the first half was where the Celtics built 20 point lead which eventually won them the game, the Timberwolves battled back and made the game close led by Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns, who scored 31 points and 28 points respectively. Gordon Hayward shouldered more of the playmaking load en route to a season-high 35 points and five assists.

Rozier is still playing roughly 23-minutes per game, but he's not expected to produce like he was during the Celtics playoff run last season.

Big men Aron Baynes (left fourth metacarpal fracture) and Robert Williams (left groin strain) were also out for the Celtics.

In 32-minutes Rozier finished with 16 points, five assists, five steals and three rebounds as the Celtics knocked off the Timberwolves 115-102.
