Actor Craig McLachlan has been charged with a series of sex offences, including indecent assault.

He is to appear at Melbourne magistrates' court in February 8.

He faced allegations of misconduct by fellow cast members while playing the lead role of transvestite Dr Frank-N-Furter in the Rocky Horror Show in 2014.

He was accused past year when fellow Rocky Horror star Christie Whelan-Browne, who played the character of Janet, made allegations of sexual misconduct. There was a bed sheet so that the audience could not see what was happening.

However, it has not been confirmed whether the charges relate to the Rocky Horror Shows accusations.
