Spanish giants FC Barcelona have reportedly met Neymar for talks over a potential shock return after his world-record departure in 2017.

The Brazil worldwide is only a year into his contract at the Camp Nou following his £142m move from Liverpool last January.

Hayward's report notes that Neymar is "open" to rejoining Barcelona, while a meeting is said to have been set up between Andre Cury, the top scout who helped mastermind the original move to Spain from Santos in 2013, and the player's entourage before Christmas.

Neymar first reached out at the end of last season and the phone calls have increased more recently, with both the player and his father "begging" to be allowed to return to Camp Nou.

"He is disappointed and sorry", El Mundo report the player's father as saying to the Barcelona president.

In conclusion, they added that "though the labels might be different, we remain a family, and we remain cherished friends". However, Bezos' wife, MacKenzie, knew the two were dating, the Post quotes an unnamed person close to Bezos as saying.

Pini Zahavi, the Israeli agent, who was involved in Neymar's PSG switch, is understood to be part of the discussions as well.

But PSG coach Thomas Tuchel has put a dampener on the rumours of Neymar linking up with his former club after claiming that the 26-year-old is "happy" where he is.

The Brazilian was identified as the ideal replacement for Neymar, while his versatitlity to play in midfield saw him touted as to star in an advanced midfield role, which club-legend Andres Iniesta fullfilled over the best decade.
