The announcement comes just hours after reports that Kanye West will not be performing at the event due to failed negotiations about the stage.

Coachella takes place in the desert city of Indio and has its roots in a 1993 concert by Pearl Jam, though the first official festival took place in 1999.

The 25-year-old Thank U, Next hitmaker will be joining Childish Gambino and Tame Impala as headliners of the highly-popular Indio, California festival. However, Coachella organizer Goldenvoice was not willing to alter the stage for Ye's set, so they mutually agreed to call off his performance.

Day 1 will see performances from Janelle Monáe, Anderson.Paak, Juice WRLD, Ella Mai, Jaden Smith, dvsn, Tierra Whack, and more, closing out with a performance from Gambino.

The 2018-19 PGA TOUR Season resumes on The Plantation Course at Kapalua in Hawaii and Dustin Johnson returns to defend his title. He must play four outside the majors and World Golf Championship competitions to retain his Tour membership.

Saturday will feature Aussies Tame Impala headlining with support acts Solange, Kid Cudi, Weezer, Aphex Twin, J Balvin, Wiz Khalifa, and Mac DeMarco. The line-up ranges across the board of subgenres with a strong showing of techno and house talents like Eric Prydz as Cirez D, Four Tet, Hot Since 82, Tale Of Us, Stephan Bodzin and celebrity stars Idris Elba and Virgil Abloh to more pop leaning names like DJ Snake, Diplo, Dillon Francis, Fisher and Zedd.

The 2017 festival attracted 250,000 people, according to organisers.

Childish Gambino, Tame Impala and Ariana Grande have been announced as the headliners for this year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2019.
