Baltimore Ravens Sign John Harbaugh to Four-Year Contract Extension

Baltimore on Thursday announced it extended its head coach after the team finished the 2018 season atop the AFC North with a 10-6 record.

The length of the contract is somewhat risky, but not a big gamble for owner Steve Bisciotti. If Harbaugh and Jackson don't work out, the Ravens will be able to gift a new coach the ability to select their next franchise quarterback to work with.

The announcement on the new contract was expected even though team officials took their time coming to an agreement with Harbaugh, who recently completed his 11th season in Baltimore. We're working hard to make the 2019 Ravens the best we can be.

Harbaugh's strong leadership was evident this season when the Ravens entered their bye week with a 4-5 record riding a three-game losing streak.

Rodgers reveals plans for Maryan Shved
Shven looks likely to leave Karpaty this month and Celtic look like the 21-year-old's most likely destination. Shved is in his second spell with Karpaty Lviv in his homeland after a stint with Sevilla Atletico in Spain.

This deal doesn't come as a surprise because the Ravens announced on December 21 that Harbaugh would return in 2019 and the sides would work on an extension.

The silence from the organization since the season-ending loss to the Los Angeles Chargers almost three weeks ago spurred plenty of speculation. Parting with Harbaugh early would either mean Baltimore is giving up on Jackson too or asking the next coach to take on a quarterback they might not be comfortable with.

Since the Ravens won Super Bowl XLVII at the end of the 2012 season, they have barely won more games than they've lost. Since winning the Super Bowl, Harbaugh had gone 40-40 and made the postseason only once from 2013 to 2017. His 10 playoff wins are tied for the third-most by any head coach in National Football League history since the 1970s merger. It seems as if the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers fan bases are pleased with the move.
