Bill Walton Endorses Barack Obama To Fill UCLA Basketball Coach Vacancy

UCLA pulls away in Pac-12 opener against Stanford as Bruins show some life under Murry Bartow

Bill Walton is one of the best analysts on TV because you never know what he's going to talk about.

On a post-game SportsCenter hit after the Bruins' 92-70 in Murry Bartow's debut as interim head coach, Walton jokingly went further when asked about the search by suggesting co-host/interviewer Neil Everett should be the next UCLA coach.

Earlier this week, UCLA announced firing of men's basketball coach Steve Alford, following the team's 7-6 start to the season, including a 15-point home defeat at the hands of Liberty on Saturday.

Fed Chief Jerome Powell Says He Won't Resign If Trump Asks
He also says that the Fed could alter its approach to trimming its huge balance sheet if it determines such a change is needed. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell on Friday said he would not resign if President Donald Trump asked him to do so.

Obama doesn't have any strong ties to UCLA, or coaching for that matter, and Pasch pointed out Obama wouldn't be in the discussion. "Walton said. "... I'm sticking with Barack Obama until he says no".

Barack Obama has not responded to Walton's suggestion. His brother-in-law, Craig Robinson, played at Princeton before coaching at Brown University and Oregon State. "I think he has coaching experience in the league".

"Well you keep saying that, but why?" But Walton, who was inducted into the Basketball of Fame in 1993, did not back down, characterizing Pasch's hesitation as "negative". Murry Bartow now is coaching on an interim basis, but the search for Alford's permanent successor is becoming a topic of national interest.
