Goal.com reports that Sarri has rescinded his decision to chase after the striker as a result of his age and current uninspiring form for the San Siro outfits. It's the lack of a killer instinct in the final third that has derailed their Premier League title hopes.

'People, they expect a lot from the No 9 of Chelsea, they expect a lot of goals and a lot of performances. The F.A Cup champions have been told to break the bank to re-sign this former player.

- Maurizio Sarri tutored-side are now ten points adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Chelsea have reportedly decided against pursuing a mid-season deal for Gonzalo Higuain amid the complexity involved in luring the Argentine striker to the Bridge.

Higuain has a lot of experience under his belt, having plied his trade for Real Madrid, Napoli, Juventus, and AC Milan since his move to Europe.

Higuain is past his prime as a forward but a reunion with Sarri could help him find his spark, albeit it will be a tough ask for him to adapt to English football during the next few months.

Chance to see meteor shower in skies over north-east tonight
It's most visible to people living in the northern hemisphere, which means we should be in a great position to see all the action. The Quadrantids meteor shower is set to peak overnight between Thursday, January 3 and early Friday, January 4.

Maurizio Sarri recalled Morata to his starting line-up against Southampton on Wednesday night, but the Spain worldwide was unable to break the deadlock as Chelsea were held to a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge. Crouch said, "Not so long ago, they did".

"You can talk about Gonzalo Higuaín or Karim Benzema, but I think Costa would be the one to take Chelsea where they want to be".

Chelsea signed Costa in 2014 from Atlético Madrid and he made 89 appearances for the Blues, in which he scored 52 times for the London club.

Peter Crouch is right.

"The one thing you need is someone to score you 30 goals and they do not have a player like Harry Kane, Mo Salah or Sergio Agüero". Given their latest blow in pursuit of Higuain, the Blues have to up the ante to sign a striker. Given the fallout between Costa and Chelsea, there wouldn't be a deal. Sarri and Chelsea should instead recall Tammy Abraham and give him a chance.
