Boulder police throw cold water on JonBenet murder confession

Letter From Suspect “Confessing” To JonBenét Ramsey’s Murder Handed To Police

"Please believe me. She was not like the other kids", he allegedly wrote in a letter, reported the Daily Mail.

The next day, Vail said he read in the newspaper that a 6-year-old girl had been killed in Boulder, so he called the police and told them what Oliva had said, although police never followed up with him about it.

At the time of Ramsey's death, Oliva lived about 10 blocks away from the Ramsey family.

The letters were sent to publicist Michael Vail, a former high school classmate of Oliva's, according to the Mail.

CBS4)- The Boulder Police Department has responded to published reports that a convicted pedophile has admitted that he killed JonBenet Ramsey by accident. "We have passed the additional information you provided onto investigators. We will not comment on any actions or the status of this investigation". But the district attorney now overseeing the case has said it was premature to exonerate the Ramseys and ordered additional tests using new DNA testing technology that authorities hope will further the investigation. "But we're now not comfortable ruling anybody out as a suspect, or ruling anybody in as a suspect in the Ramsey case".

Oliva was arrested in 2002.

Oliva claimed in his letters that he was a "serial murderer" and that he "told the detectives all the murders I can remember", although he said police were unable to prove any of them. When he said he had hurt a little girl I tried to get more information out of him.

Ramsey was found dead in her Boulder, Colorado, home on December 26, 1996.

Oliva did admit to having an obsession with the young beauty queen. Police believe she was killed the night before by a blow to the head or strangulation. "I'd like to see a memorial set up for her".

Thunder vs. Spurs - Game Recap
San Antonio started 14-of-14 from the three-point line and it appeared as though they'd run away with the game as a result. It's incredible this game is as close as it was considering how well they shot the ball.

JonBenet, 6, was found murdered in the basement of her family's University Hill home the afternoon of December 26, 1996, after her mother reported finding a ransom note demanding $118,000 for her safe return.

More than a decade ago, John Mark Karr, a 41-year-old elementary school teacher, was arrested in Bangkok on August 15, 2006, when he apparently confessed to murdering JonBenet.

Karr claimed to have drugged JonBenet, but an autopsy failed to find any drugs in her system.

"I feel she was an exceptional girl whose death was an exceptional loss".

When asked if he was innocent in her slaying, Karr replied, "No".

Most compellingly, DNA evidence did not connect Karr to the crime scene, and so he wasn't charged.

Inquiries on Thursday to the Boulder County District Attorney's Office, which turned control of the investigation back to the police department in January 2009, referred questions Thursday to the police.

In 2016, a documentary called The Case of JonBenet Ramsey aired ahead of the 20th anniversary of JonBenet's death, which ultimately accused Burke - who was nine at the time - of bludgeoning his sister to death.
