Spurs take off in 3rd quarter, fly by Celtics

After starting 6-of-27 from the field, the Spurs stayed close to the Celtics, exploded for a 46-point quarter in the third - the most the team has scored in a quarter since 1993 - and finally pulled away with a 120-111 win to end 2018.

The Spurs trailed 52-46 at half-time before Patty Mills sank a pair of three-pointers and teammates White, Davis Bertans and Marco Belinelli hit one apiece during the 46-point explosion that produced a 92-82 lead. The All-Star guard left the game, but was able to return.

"I'm wearing sunglasses, so not too good", Irving said, in addressing his condition. Boston coach Brad Stevens was unsure of Irving's status for Wednesday's home game against Minnesota.

Various other big names have been linked with the new promotion, including Chris Jericho and Jim Ross. You know I don't know who's going to be announced and who's not as far as contracts goes.

"Kyrie has a scratched eye", Stevens said, per ESPN's Michael C. Wright. I'll be all right, though. "I don't know what that means beyond tonight". "He [Belinelli] smacked the s-- out of me. He caught me pretty good".

Jayson Tatum recorded a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double for the Celtics, who went 1-2 on a trip to Houston, Memphis and San Antonio, winning the middle game.

Overall, Irving logged 28 minutes on Monday night, finishing with 16 points on 7-for-14 shooting while adding three rebounds, eight assists and two steals.
