Efforts to boost the company's in-store games offering has helped offset falling revenue from mobile phone sales

"Worldwide sales, which accounted for nearly 40% of overall sales, grew 2% owing to 'strong" performances in Sweden, Denmark and Greece, the company said. Aqr Capital Management Llc acquired 5.62 million shares as Macys Inc (M)'s stock declined 11.37%.

However, Dixons was booming in other areas, with strong sales of supersize TVs, smart tech and in gaming.

Stripping out a number of Carphone Warehouse store closures, like-for-like sales fell 7%.

Mark Delaney, Managing Director of Dixons Carphone Ireland, said the company's investment in its online presence has brought class leading innovation to its customers.

As well as being used by Toyota , the batteries resulting from the partnership will be sold to other carmakers through Toyota . It will also encourage Honda Motor Co to adopt its batteries, according to the sources.

Dixons Carphone retained its full-year profit guidance this morning as a surge in gaming and super-size TV sales over the crucial Christmas trading period helped counter a persistent slump in demand for postpaid mobile phones.

It has been hurt by tougher conditions in the mobile phone market as customers keep their handsets for longer. The company also provides mobile virtual network operator services under the iD Mobile brand, as well as price comparison and switching services for broadband, digital TV, and home phone under the Simplifydigital brand; and operates consumer electrical fix services under the InfoCare brand in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland.

The group also trades as Elkjøp, Elgiganten and Gigantti in Nordic countries and Kotsovolos in Greece.

For fiscal 2019, group headline profit before tax was expected to come in at around £300m, unchanged from previous guidance delivered in December. The stock of Dixons Carphone plc (LON:DC) earned "Buy" rating by HSBC on Thursday, January 10.
