Nietes Ioka make weight for WBO Super Flyweight World Title

The card will feature 3 world title fights, the main event vacant WBO junior bantamweight main event Nietes vs. Ioka; WBA Light Flyweight champion Hekkie Budler vs. Hiroto Kyoguchi, and IBF Flyweight champion Moruti Mthalane vs. Masahiro Sakamoto.

Filipino three weight division champion Donnie "Ahas" Nietes takes on fellow Three division champion Japanese Kazuto Ioka for the Vacant WBO belt, the victor will also become a 4 weight champion, the fight takes place at the Wynn Palace Cotai, Macao, China on New Year's Even December 31.

Donnie Nietes joins Manny Pacquiao and Nonito Donaire as the only Filipinos to have titles in 4 weight classes.

Pacquiao holds titles in eight weight divisions, while Donaire in four.

Nietes regained a bit of steam in the final two rounds, keeping active as Ioka tried to end the fight strong and sway the judges' decision. "I felt so nervous when the announcer revealed the judges' decision. That's what he thinks of the fight or maybe he saw a different angle in the fight", Nietes told The Manila Times in Filipino via overseas call.

Barcelona manager, Valverde drops bombshell on his future
Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde says a deal for Jeisson Murillo was due to an "emergency situation". Of Arthur and Lenglet he said "they fit in very well and have moulded absolutely with our style".

Donnie Nietes is now in elite company. "We executed very well our game plan", Villamor added.

"I feel that this will be a terrific fight because I've always had tremendous respect for Donnie Nietes and I'm honored that this fight is happening", said Ioka.

It was the 36-year-old Nietes' second crack at winning a world title at 115 lbs after being denied last September when he and fellow Filipino Aston Palicte battled to a draw even though Nietes was clearly dominant.

Ioka, two-inches taller, applied pressure on Nietes in the next two rounds only to be caught by hard rights and lefts coming in by the pride of Murcia, Negros Occidental, now based in Cebu.

Gonzalez is another big fish with a record of 47-2 with 39 stoppages.
