The royals also made their traditional outing to the Christmas Day church service at St Mary Magdalene Church on the Sandringham estate.

The Duchess of Cambridge, wearing a blue coat and hat, was given flowers by onlookers after the couple left the church.

Along with the gorgeous coat, Kate sported a matching headband, a polka dot dress, dark heels and a clutch for the service.

Meanwhile, William sported a blue coat and trousers, white button-down shirt and red patterned tie.

USS Cole bomber Jamal al-Badawi died in Yemen air strike
Mr Badawi was believed killed but that could not be confirmed at the time. He was recaptured in March 2004, but again escaped in February 2006.

The Duchess of Cambridge had previously worn the coat during a trip to Norway last February while pregnant with Prince Louis.

The Queen, 92, arrived separately and wore a chic all-tan ensemble. At this point, her first royal engagement of 2019 has not been announced, nor has Meghan Markle's or Prince Harry's.

The Queen braved the cold first Sunday in January to attend a church service at Sandringham. Although it is tradition to take down Christmas trees before Twelfth Night, the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh are said to keep their decorations up until 6 February each year - and the reason is heartbreaking. Kate was even seen holding a lovely bouquet of yellow and orange flowers before heading inside.

A source told PEOPLE that the couples enjoyed a memorable first Christmas together a year ago, when Meghan made her debut walk to church with the royal family on Christmas Day.
