Everton, who had not won any of their previous four home league matches, failed to have a first-half shot on target for the second successive league game at Goodison Park.

Everton's French defender Kurt Zouma (L) consoles Bournemouth's French striker Lys Mousset following the English Premier League football match between Everton and Bournemouth at Goodison Park in Liverpool, north west England on January 13, 2019.

Brooks struck a shot against the base of the post in the 14th minute after being played in by Junior Stanislas while Stanislas himself almost embarrassed England keeper Jordan Pickford with a free kick.

Everton weren't at their best today, especially in the first half when they could barely get the ball out of their own half, but secured the victory to move temporarily into the top half of the table courtesy of second-half goals from Kurt Zouma and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Jordan Pickford pushed away a free-kick from Stanislas in the 26th minute, before Everton finally showed some signs of improvement.

Everton were more threatening after the break as Richarlison saw a shot blocked right on the line by Nathan Ake.

Michael Keane's headed effort from Lucas Digne's cross was unfortunate to strike the crossbar three minutes before halftime.

Withdrawal from Syria begun
He is calling for a united Arab front against what he describes as its destabilising activity and Saudi Arabia is key to that. Russian Federation said on Friday it was important for Syria's Kurds and government to start talking in light of US plans.

Everton's second in stoppage time, struck home excellently by Calvert-Lewin after great work by Ademola Lookman, was harsh on Bournemouth who will wonder how they went home unrewarded.

- Bournemouth have conceded 103 goals in the Premier League since the start of 2017-2018, more than any other team in that period (West Ham United on 100). All three of his goals have come from headers inside the box.

Everton struggled to keep hold of the ball in the first half and they were not helped by the sloppiness of Andre Gomes and Gylfi Sigurdsson in possession.

- Everton's Digne has had six goal involvements this season (three goals, three assists), equaling his best ever tally in a top-flight campaign (also six for Roma in 2015-2016).

"Then, I am told, but I haven't seen it, we should have had a "stonewaller" at the end of the game".

Zouma put Everton ahead with his first goal for the club when he found space in the area to head another fine cross from Digne beyond Asmir Begovic.
