Georgia promotes James Coley to offensive coordinator

In 2018 he coached sophomore quarterback Jake Fromm who posted the second-best Completion Percentage in school history at 67.3, which was 12th nationally, and second-best Passing Efficiency for a QB at 171.21, which was fifth nationally.

"James has been an critical part of our staff since we came to Georgia", Smart said.

In a statement, Smart lauded Coley's experience and how he will "transition easily into his new role".

The Bulldogs have named current quarterback coach James Coley as the next offensive coordinator, after the departure of Jim Chaney to Tennessee.

He led a Miami offense from 2013-15, and put up some stellar stats.

Coley, a Florida State alum, began his college coaching career at LSU, with stops in the Miami Dolphins organization, at Florida International, with the Seminoles, and the Miami Hurricanes.

He is now ranked as the No. 10 recruiter in the country according to 247Sports, was ranked No. 20 during the 2018 recruiting cycle.
