Google pulls plug on Chromecast Audio

A Google spokesperson confirmed the product's discontinuation in an email to MobileSyrup.

Google released the Chromecast Audio as a way to stream music to a speaker that doesn't have a WiFi connection. The Chromecast Audio dongle has been discounted in Google's store since before Black Friday, so we all assumed the end of the road was near. That was an unofficial claim, but things changed today with confirmation from Google that Chromecast Audio is officially over.

The product's discontinuation was first spotted by a United Kingdom -based Redditor who posted that Google cancelled their Chromecast Audio order, with customer support confirming that it was because the product is no longer in production. The obvious difference between the Chromecast Audio and a regular Chromecast was that the former came with a 3.5 mm jack/mini-TOSLINK socket instead of an HDMI plug. It was already a steal at $35; at $15, you better grab them while they last.

TV station backs off accusation that CNN played politics
We did, however, book a reporter from KUSI for a story on immigration and the border wall in November. But, they said, when CNN found out the segment would portray the wall positively, it was spiked.

The Google Store is out of stock at the moment and we're not seeing any other outlets to snag a Chromecast Audio for the incredible $15 it's been on the Google Store, but if we do, we'll be sure to let everyone know.

Because manufacturing has ended and Google has sold out of its stock, customers will no longer be able to get the Chromecast Audio through Google itself. The company will sell off the remaining stock of the dongle and it seems that inventory won't be replenished once Google and other vendors have sold out of the tiny dongle.

Google said it will continue to offer assistance for Chromecast Audio devices. If the TV is hooked up to a proper sound system, though, the experience is more or less the same.
