The lawsuit also names Amit Singhal, a search executive who, reportedly, also received an exit package after accusations of sexual harassment were levelled against him.The lawyers demanded the money paid to Rubin and Singhal by Alphabet be returned to shareholders.

The filing comes following allegations made against former Android bigwig Andy Rubin last October.

The lawsuit comes months after a New York Times report revealed Google allegedly paid so-called "Godfather of Android" Andy Rubin $90 million United States dollars to leave the company following sexual misconduct allegations that were levied against Rubin.

Some of the Google employees involved in the walkout released a statement Thursday in support of the lawsuits.

In another chapter of the tumultuous goings-on within Google, one of Alphabet's shareholders is suing the company, on behalf of itself, over the payouts given to Google executives who were accused of sexual misconduct.

Another day, another anti-Google lawsuit - this time over claims Alphabet, adtech monolith Google's holding company, "failed to take meaningful steps to address a pervasive culture of harassment and discrimination".

Following the New York Times report in November, Google employees around the world staged a protest against the tech giant's handling of sexual harassment cases.

The cases-James Martin v. Lawrence Page et al and Northern California Pipe Trades Pension Plan v. John Hennessey et al-were both filed in San Mateo County Superior Court. "We have all the evidence we need that Google's leadership does not have our best interests at heart", they said.

Minutes from board meetings obtained by attorneys for the shareholder reveal the personal involvement of Alphabet directors in behavior that has harmed the company, the plaintiff's attorneys Ann Ravel, Louise Renne and Frank Bottini said at a press conference.

The board's audit and compensation committees, comprising nine members, along with Page, Brin and Schmidt, reviewed the findings of an investigation into allegations against Rubin in 2014.

"The conduct of Rubin and other executives was disgusting, illegal, immoral, degrading to women, and contrary to every principle that Google claims it abides by", the complaint added.

Fortune reached out to Google for comment. "Andy left Google voluntarily".

"Over the past two years, we have terminated 48 people, including 13 senior managers and above for sexual harassment", Pichai said. Her co-counsel, Ann Ravel, was a commissioner for the Federal Election Commission under the Obama administration. This is the second such suit filed against Google this week. "What we have asked for are a lot of changes in corporate governance at Google, and that is really the ultimate goal of this litigation".
