In a new post on Twitter today, HBO confirmed that we will learn the official start date for the final batch of episodes this weekend - prior to the start of True Detective on sunday night.

After nearly two years of waiting, Game Of Thrones fans finally know when the eighth and final season of HBO's epic fantasy drama will premiere, as Home Box Office finally dropped the official release date in unison with the season three premiere of True Detective. Our feeling of course is the earlier, the better - but we also say this as someone who just wants to get the show as soon as humanly possible. It's a brilliant promotional play for the third season of that show, but beyond that it's an opportunity to make an event around the premiere date.

Tonight, prior to the premiere of True Detective Season 3 starring Mahershala Ali, a fiery (yet icy) preview on USA television unveiled the exact date of when the first episode will debut. We're also already on record here as speculating that April 28 is a good bet for when the show will return.

A once wealthy oil nation, Venezuela is gripped by growing crisis of relentless inflation, food shortages and mass migration. The people of Venezuela deserve to live in freedom in a democratic society governed by the rule of law.

Just six episodes remain of the program, although many installments of the eighth and final season are expected to run longer than an hour, as the producers endeavor to bring the TV version of George R.R. Martin's epic fantasy tale to a satisfying close. HBO previously released a short teaser trailer for the season, which fans have been awaiting for two years.
