Additionally, Breer reports that quarterback Sam Darnold played a role in the Jets decision to hire Gase.

Gase, 40, went 23-26 in three seasons with the Dolphins, including to the playoffs in 2016. He was sacked after going 7-9 this season.

There are five teams looking for a new head coach, but McCarthy will reportedly pass on the Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos and Cleveland Browns.

According to ESPN's Jeff Darlington, Manning called Jets CEO Christopher Johnson to endorse Gase for the job.

The companies are also working in tandem to "integrate key components" of Uplay's ecosystem and Epic's online services to provide. Steam, which is now the largest digital games storefront, takes about 30% of all revenues, for comparison.

Gase replaces Todd Bowles, who was sacked after he went 24-40 in four seasons and no playoff appearances.

Regarded as one of the league's top young offensive minds, he'll be tasked with furthering the development of quarterback Sam Darnold and helping NY snap an eight-year post-season drought. The team interviewed Kilff Kingsbury on Monday before he signed on with the Cardinals, and also has interviewed Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, former Dolphins coach Adam Gase, Cowboys secondary coach and defensive passing game coordinator Kris Richard, former Colts and Lions coach Jim Caldwell, Buccaneers offensive coordinator Todd Monken and Baylor coach Matt Rhule. It was not clear if Rhule was offered the job.

Former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy is reportedly "only" interested in the Jets opening, but it remains to be seen how much of that is reciprocated. That could mean the Dolphins already know who their next head coach will be but they just waiting until that coach's season is over.

With the end of the NFL season upon us, the league's annual coaching purge has kicked into high gear.
