John Kerry Says Donald Trump Should Resign

Asked what message he has for President Trump, Kerry told attendees of CNBC's World Economic Forum panel that the president doesn't take his position "seriously" and should "resign".

Trump was guilty of "lies", not least over the Paris climate accord, Kerry added during a discussion with United Nations oceans envoy Peter Thomson and Rebecca Shaw, chief scientist for environmental group WWF.

When pressed on what his message to the President would be, Kerry responded, "Resign". "He doesn't have an ability to have that kind of conversation".

Trump skipped this year's World Economic Forum, an annual gathering of world leaders and wealthy elites, citing the ongoing partial government shutdown, which entered its 32nd day on Tuesday.

Israeli jets strike northern Gaza targets following border flare-ups
The target of the strike was said to be a Hamas building in the Beit Lahia area of northern Gaza, according to Palestinian media. An informal truce between Hamas and Israel had brought relative calm to the border in recent weeks.

"Last time I went to Davos, the Fake News said I should not go there", he wrote. "The fact is that the people understand the media better than the media understands them!"

Kerry, who served as secretary of state under President Barack Obama, has been an outspoken critic of Trump.

Following the resignation of former Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis earlier this year, Kerry slammed Trump's "pull-out, walk-away presidency" and described Trump's decision to pull out US troops from Syria a "moment of shame". "It's inconsistent with what the foreign policy of the United States is as directed by this president, and it is beyond inappropriate for him to be engaged in this".
