His collaborator John McGuire would've designed the setup.

However with only four months to build the dome, which would require the entire festival site to be rearranged, including removing a large section of portable toilets, the festival declined.

Kanye West almost headlined this year's Coachella, but backed out just before he was to be announced after the Festival wouldn't build him a giant dome. He told the people from Goldenvoice - Coachella's parent company - that he was on vacation with his family and that it was the festival's responsibility to deal with the bathrooms before hanging up. "He then hung up abruptly, sources said". So the festival shuffled things around, giving Tame Impala the headlining sets on Coachella's Saturdays and locking in Ariana Grande to replace West on the festival's two Sunday nights. Braun had terminated his professional relationship with West in early December, Billboard has learned, marking the second split in 2018 between the mega-manager and the rapper.

The two weekend festival takes place in April.

Kanye West reportedly pulled out of Coachella over a stage dispute.

Tollett also told Los Angeles Times about the production impasse, but he didn't go into details about the giant dome or the part-a-potties.

According to Billboard, New Year's Day was the date on which Kanye hit festival organizers with a last-minute request for his set, asking that a giant dome be built on festival grounds for his performance, forgoing the traditional main stage. Goldenvoice apparently told the rapper that it is one of the largest stages in North America.

Shortly after the 1/1 call concluded, Goldenvoice chose to end talks with West, who did not have a signed contract for the headliner slot and hadn't collected any payment from Goldenvoice.

Pissed off, Kanye West reportedly reacted... not so well.
