Thurman: Lopez is like swiss cheese, he's got holes throughout

Thurman despite being more than likely the best welterweight in the world, on paper, has more "what-if's" than any other fighter in the sport of boxing. On a recent media conference call, Thurman was asked by Fightful about his thoughts on going one-on-one with the eight-division champion and Thurman said he realizes where Pacquiao's interests lie in regards to his next fight, but would still love a shot against him anyway.

The unbeaten Thurman won the interim WBA welterweight title in July 2013 and made three defense between then and 2014 before being elevated to full-time "World" champion by the WBA in January 2015. I just know he's interested in fighting Mayweather again.

Now, though, he's raring to go and said: "I want to fulfil my dream of becoming the undisputed welterweight champion of the world".

Thurman surrendered the WBC Championship in April 2018.

For Thurman (28-0, 22 KOs), that was March 4, 2017, when he edged Danny Garcia in a split decision in Brooklyn to unify the 147-pound titles.

But, despite a nickname that promotes his one-punch power capabilities, Thurman is more of a boxer in temperament with solid, but not overwhelmingly, heavy hands.

In the main event, undefeated WBA welterweight champion Keith "One Time" Thurman returns to the ring to defend his title against Californian Josesito Lopez, and unbeaten heavyweight contender Adam Kownacki will take on Gerald Washington in the co-feature of the evening. "I want to get that status back before going above and beyond".

Now Thurman begins his quest to reestablish himself against Lopez, who is 36-7 with 19 knockouts and has faced notable champions like Canelo Alvarez, Marcos Maidana and Andre Berto.

As for Lopez, the engaging Thurman refuses to overlookthe veteran of 43 fights. A more mobile, more talented Thurman should be able to safely outbox a straight-line, come-forward battler, especially one like Lopez, whose 34-year-old body has some mileage on it.

Barclays Center, New York, USA. He can also be drawn into firefights that negate his edge in hand and foot speed. He said he's healthy and ready, and Lopez is expecting to see an opponent not slowed by ring rust.

Thurman admits he may not be at his best on his return, but he shouldn't need to be against Lopez.

But if everything plays out true to form, Thurman will be looking to make a statement this Saturday with his performance against Lopez.
