Kevin Spacey questioned ahead of court appearance over sexual assault charge

Actor Kevin Spacey is scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. ET for the alleged sexual assault of an 18-year-old man. He has said he will plead not guilty.

Spacey is accused of sexually assaulting the teenage son of former Boston WCVB-TV news anchor Heather Unruh at a Nantucket bar in July 2016.

Spacey's lawyer has sought to poke holes in the case, noting during an earlier hearing that the teen didn't immediately report the allegations.

It's the first criminal case brought against Spacey, 59, since other allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced against him in 2017.

The attorneys said prosecutors have only provided a copy of a brief Snapchat video the victim said he took of the alleged incident, but that, according to Spacey's attorneys, does not show any actual groping. Spacey will not have to appear at his next hearing on March 4, but he must be available by phone, Barrett said.

In a statement to PEOPLE, Mitchell Garabedian, the civil attorney for the alleged victim, wrote, "By reporting the sexual assault, my client is a determined and encouraging voice for those victims not yet ready to report being sexually assaulted". The man said he fled when Spacey went to the bathroom. According to the complaint, the busboy told police Spacey bought him a number of alcoholic drinks, bragged to him about the size of his penis, and tried to get him to go back to the actor's house afterward.

This is not the first time he is facing sexual assault allegations.

The "House of Cards" star, who faces five years in prison if convicted, is accused of repeatedly reaching down into the trousers of a man identified as William Little, who was 18 at the time of the alleged attack at a Nantucket restaurant.

In that video, titled "Let Me Be Frank", Spacey spoke in character as his House of Cards persona Frank Underwood, addressing the camera as he stood in a kitchen wearing a Santa Claus apron. It was unclear whether he was referring to the charge.

After meeting the actor and telling him he was 23 years old - the legal drinking age is 21 in MA - he said he started drinking first beer and then whiskey at Spacey's urging.

Mr Spacey said he had no memory of the event, but publicly apologised before issuing an "absolute" denial of all other allegations.

"Spacey never said a word", member station WBUR's Frederic Thys reports.
