The captains for each team is the All-Star starter from each conference who received the most fan votes in his conference, which is James from the Western Conference and Antetokounmpo from the Eastern Conference.

George was ranked fourth by the fans, players and media. Simmons finished fourth in the eyes of fans, third in media voting and fifth based with his peers. From the West, Stephen Curry and reigning NBA MVP James Harden were the picks at guard, with James, Golden State's Kevin Durant and Oklahoma City's Paul George getting the frontcourt spots.

LeBron James (4,620,809 fan votes) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (4,375,747) led their respective conferences in voting, and will serve as team captains.

Reserves will be announced January 31, based on the selections made by National Basketball Association coaches.

The selections were made via fan, media and player vote, with fans counting for 50 percent of the vote and media and players splitting up the other half.

Doncic may still make the cut as a reserve, but Wade and Rose are not having All-Star caliber seasons and are unlikely to be selected by coaches.

This is the 15th time LeBron has been named an All-Star starter, tying Kobe Bryant for the most in National Basketball Association history.

While Wade, who is in his 16th and final season before retirement, finished with the second-most fan votes among East guards, he was sixth in both the player and media vote.

"I'm a lover, not a fighter", Antetokounmpo said.

Simmons was controversially snubbed previous year despite a standout rookie season, with coaches declining to include him as a reserve.

Butler has appeared in just 38 games this season (28 for the 76ers), averaging 19.6 points per game, 4.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists.

Wade is one of four still-active past All-Star MVPs waiting to see if an All-Star nod is coming. Last year's draft was not televised.
