Leeds United accused of 'spying' on rivals Derby County during training

Derby County have confirmed police found a member of staff at Leeds United "acting suspiciously" outside their training ground.

Derby manager Frank Lampard has revealed that his team's training sessions have been spied upon by Leeds on two occasions this season.

In a statement, they said officers were called to Derby's training ground on Thursday morning and a man was spoken to at the perimeter fence.

The BBC has asked Leeds United for a response, while Derbyshire Police said no arrests have been made.

"Yesterday I talked to Frank Lampard and he said I didn't respect the rules of fair play". I have a different point of view, but the important thing is what he and Derby think.

Manager Frank Lampard stopped training until the incident had been resolved.

Derby are now in sixth position, while Leeds are league leaders just eight points ahead. I've been using this kind of practice since the World Cup qualifiers with Argentina. It is not illegal, we have been doing it publicly and we talk about it in the press.

The club says they are in discussions with Leeds over the incident.

Led coalition says Syria troop withdrawal has begun
Turkey views the Kurdish YPG militia, which forms the core of the SDF force, as a national security threat. The coalition "has begun the process of our deliberate withdrawal from Syria.

"We had somebody the day before our first game against them which we lost 4-1", Lampard said. The man was asked to leave but it wasn't followed up like it was this time'.

Lampard called the incident "bad", telling Sky prior to the match that "if we are going to start talking about 'culturally I did it somewhere else and it was fine, ' then that doesn't work for me". It has disrupted our build-up for this game.

"I don't think we need to [make a complaint] because he's admitted it".

'Now people are going to say I'm making an excuse pre-game.

Earlier a Derbyshire Police statement had confirmed a man was removed from a position near the club's training ground.

"We were training on team tactics, shape, personnel, and the fact that Harry Wilson wasn't training".

Derby County have very much been the nearly-men of the Championship over the past few years, often falling at the final hurdles keeping them from returning to the Premier League. The pliers were reportedly used to access the training ground.
