The Tony victor teared up on Friday as he brought his father, Luis, onstage at the Luis A. Ferré Performing Arts Center at Hamilton's opening night in Puerto Rico, over a year after Lin-Manuel first set his sights on bringing the musical to the island.

However, funds raised from the show will go toward the Miranda family's Flamboyan Arts Fund, which claims to be an "initiative dedicated to preserving, amplifying, and sustaining the arts in Puerto Rico by supporting all facets of the arts community including music, theater, visual arts, dance, literature, and youth arts education". In addition to a select number of premium tickets sold via Flamboyan Arts Fund to raise money for the fund, all corporate sponsorships of HAMILTON Puerto Rico will benefit the Arts Fund. Author Ron Chernow, whose biography of Hamilton inspired the show, was among those in attendance.

"There was an extra passion and pain and sadness and beauty that he brought to his character", Chernow said after the show.

The percentage was even lower for women aged 21 to 29, with just over half up to date on screenings. The researchers also observed troubling disparities across racial/ethnic groups.

David Begnaud went behind the scenes with the cast, and got a tour backstage as they prepare to begin performances tonight.

"It was very hard to sing that here in Puerto Rico because you know better than I what it is to survive a hurricane". Almost 3,000 people were killed in the aftermath of the September 2017 storm, which also left about $90 billion in damages.

"I think that's absolutely monstrous", Miranda said, apologizing for not having further comment. This is the first time in more than 2 years that he'll play Alexander Hamilton.
