Meizu Zero vs. Galaxy S10

Meizu on Wednesday took the wraps off the "Zero" phone, a minimalist device that features no charging port, headphone jack or buttons whatsoever.

The Zero has no charging port, no physical buttons, and no speaker grilles. The smartphone instead uses mSound 2.0 on its display for audio output doubling as a speaker and earpiece. Hence, there are zero buttons, zero holes in the Meizu Zero.

In fact, except for two tiny microphone holes on the bottom of the phone and the cameras on the back, this is a perfectly clean slab made of glass and glossy black ceramic that sandwiches the electronics and a 5.99-inch OLED display with in-display fingerprint reader and a camera sensor on the very top. It has features like e-SIM support, wireless charging, and sound-on-display technology. While Vivo's concept still raises certain questions, Meizu has already come up with what it thinks is the next major step in smartphone design with the Meizu Zero.

Instead of physical SIM card, the Meizu Zero is equipped with eSIM card. In terms of optics, the Meizu ZERO comes with Sony's IMX380 + IMX350 dual camera setup on the rear and a 20MP single selfie camera on the front. The other features of the phone include Flyme 7 UI based Android 9 Pie OS and One Mind AI Engine.

KitGuru Says: The Meizu Zero seems as fashionable as other premium devices out there, but true durability enthusiasts are likely to opt for more rugged designs from the likes of CAT which achieve as high as IP69.

Oliver Mtukudzi had a long, colourful career
He sang, played guitar and danced while directing a tight band of guitarists, keyboards, percussionists and dancers. For such a plain fact, we, mere mortals, can only acknowledge as we all hereby do", he said.

In terms of specs and all the rest, the Meizu Zero is a flagship product. Meizu has also not yet commented on the price or a possible release window.

But we do wonder whether this is a step too far, as you're losing faster charging via a wired connection, the ability to easily connect to a computer (what if you want to flash a new ROM?), proper buttons, physical SIM support, and microSD expansion.

It is an eSIM-only handset, so doesn't require a SIM slot. Data transfer is via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth 5.0.

"Meizu zero is like a natural jade, without traces of artificial carving".

All of this one-piece crafting allows excellent water-proofing and the Meizu Zero is indeed IP68 certified to withstand immersion in water. And a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845SoC is the processor fitted on this phone.
