NBA looking into circumstances of Cavs’ McCaw signing

When the Cleveland Cavaliers released guard Patrick McCaw soon after signing him to a non-guaranteed contract, the move raised some eyebrows.

McCaw spent parts of his first two years of his National Basketball Association career with the Warriors, but was not re-signed during the offseason as a restricted free agent. The Warriors, McCaw's former employer, complained to the National Basketball Association about it, and the league is investigating, multiple sources confirmed to The Athletic.

Back in October, McCaw turned down a two-year, $5.2 million offer from the Warriors, a decision that puzzled many. The New York Times first reported the Warriors' complaint and investigation. His former team (the Golden State Warriors) had a chance to match the offer but they declined. It's unclear how long the NBA's review will take, or what - if anything - the Warriors are seeking.

Australia police examining suspicious packages at 10 consulates
Victoria Police said at this time, they believe the matter is "targeted and not impacting the general community". A major operation is underway after packages were delivered to at least 10 global consulates across Melbourne .

"I've got enough to worry about", Kerr said, before adding, "The whole thing was kind of odd". McCaw's contract with the team was for two years at $6 million, but it was not guaranteed. McCaw played in just three games for the Cavaliers, scoring five points in 53 minutes.

The situation seems like the Cavs did McCaw a favor and helped him reach unrestricted free agency earlier than he should have, which harms a team like Golden State, which should have retained his rights for the season.
