Formula 1 legend Niki Lauda has taken a step back in his recovery from the lung transplant operation he underwent past year.

In November he referenced his health in a video message issued to mark the fifth consecutive double world championship success for Mercedes.

The Formula 1 legend and Mercedes team chairman had been vacationing in Ibiza following his long recovery from a life-saving lung transplant operation. He has had a close working relationship with five-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton and was involved in helping to sign the British driver from McLaren for the 2013 season. In 1976, he was badly burned when he crashed during the German Grand Prix, but made an astonishingly fast return to racing just six weeks later.
