One killed in building explosion in NE China's Jilin

The city government said in a statement one person was killed in one of two explosions - one in the basement auto park of the Wanda Plaza building, owned by Dalian Wanda Group, and one on the 30th floor - but did not give details.

Reports from the scene claim a man has been throwing explosives from a high-rise building.

The first blast happened in a basement auto park, while the second happened on the 30th floor of a shopping centre high-rise building.

Police are investigating the incident as a criminal case.

"There must have been more than 20 explosions", the woman, identified only by her surname, Zhang, told Beijing Daily.

Videos circulated on Chinese social media show people fleeing away from the Wanda Plaza building as loud blasts ring out from the foot of the structure as well as on a higher floor.

While initial investigations suggest the blasts were criminal acts, authorities did not immediately provide further details, according to the South China Morning Post.
