Pentagon Chief Of Staff Kevin Sweeney Quits After Jim Mattis Exit

The US Department of Defence's chief of staff, Rear Admiral Kevin Sweeney on Saturday stepped down from his post.

During Sweeney's time in the private sector, he was Vice President of Track Patch 1 Corporation and served on various boards. He gave no reason for his departure and said only that the time had come to return to the private sector.

Rear Admiral Sweeney's resignation comes a month after Defence Secretary James Mattis also announced his departure from the department.

There is no word on a possible successor.

Now According to the Mirror , Benfica have identified the Portuguese as their next manager following the departure of Rui Vitoria .

Another top Pentagon official announced Saturday he would step down from his role, following the resignation of Defence Secretary Jim Mattis last month and President Donald Trump's controversial decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria.

While Mattis meant to stay in his role until February, U.S. President Donald Trump announced shortly after that an interim defence secretary would take over the post in January instead.

Mr Mattis stepped down from his job as defense secretary on Tuesday and Mr Trump said a day later he had essentially fired Mattis, a retired Marine general whose letter of resignation was seen as a sharp rebuke to the Republican president.

Brett McGurk, the presidential special envoy to the global coalition fighting so-called Islamic State, also quit following the Syria announcement, as did department spokeswoman Dana White.
