Samsung Phone Users Perturbed to Find They Can't Delete Facebook

Facebook Cannot be Deleted from Certain Android Phones

A few Samsung phones come with Facebook pre-installed on them and the mobile manufacturer has also released several apps that link its devices to Facebook. And if it did, why couldn't he just remove it from his phone?

TNW tested this on a Samsung Galaxy A9 and found that the disabled app does nothing but prompt you to install an update in order to use Facebook. Facebook's spokesperson did, however, say that if you disable the app on your phone, it acts as if it's uninstalled, so it can not collect data or anything of the sort, which is something Mr. Winke was concerned about, and probably at least a part of the reason why he wanted to delete that app from his smartphone. Winke bought a Samsung Galaxy S8 when it was introduced in 2017. In a recent appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt revealed a sharp increase in reported mental health issues among USA teenagers and young adults in the last decade. We still don't know when this deal was agreed, or for how many Samsung phones it covers, but what is clear is that Facebook can only be disabled on the phone, not deleted.

'Can they still track your information, your location, or whatever else they do? "We the consumer should have say in what we want and don't want on our products", added Winke.

As part of my job, I often use different and new phones nearly every week.

Chelsea fans spot Eden Hazard's frustrations with Marcos Alonso in Tottenham defeat
Wish he could do like Messi and demand players". "Alonso makes underlaps every time and occupies the space Hazard wants to be in". Hazard has won two Premier League titles in seven seasons at Chelsea, as well as the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup.

Some devices in some regions, come with Facebook pre-installed. While these apps are the ones that are nearly a necessity on smartphones these days, the absence of an option to remove them is irksome.

According to a report by Bloomberg, some Samsung smartphone owners are facing troubles uninstalling the Facebook app. But, they are still present on the phone. I was recently using the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and the pre-installed Facebook, as well as Instagram apps, refused to work without updating to the latest version. And social media and reverse engineering expert points out that the pre-installed Facebook app is just a shell, or a placeholder - not the actual app.

Manufacturers and the concerned app developers keep on insisting that pre-installed apps do not collect data when disabled. Facebook has been caught collecting data on users even if they don't even have an account, nevermind if they are logged in or not. A smartphone is meant to be used with a internet so it safe to assume that anyone who wants to use Facebook on the phone will be able to download it. Google apps such as Maps and Gmail have been shipping on Android devices for years.
