Sevilla have signed striker Munir El Haddadi from Barcelona for €1.05m (£937,000).

After completing a more than acceptable season on loan at Alavés past year, scoring 14 goals in 37 games, Munir has found chances of first team action few and far between on his return to Barcelona, the club where he came thropugh the youth system after signing from Rayo Majadahonda in 2011, when he was still only 15.

"It seems Munir has taken a decision and, evidently, the club have also made a decision", Valverde said in a news conference on Wednesday.

"We want a solution as soon as possible".

Entering the past year of his contract, there was no loan for Munir to begin the 2018-19 season, and he played just seven times for Barcelona, scoring once in the league.

However, the 23-year-old forward has not featured since December 11 against Tottenham in the Champions League and Barcelona are amenable to doing a deal.

Sevilla were always the favourites to land the once-capped Spain global after it became clear he would not extend his stay at Barca.

Sevilla had met with Morata's representatives over a potential deal but found the proposed loan move too expensive. That top choice has always been Munir who will join the club in June if a deal can't be reached in January.

The Catalan giants have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Sevilla for the sale of Munir El Haddadi.

Munir becomes Sevilla's second signing of the day, following their capture of Ajax defender Max Wober earlier on Friday.
