Discount airline Swoop is adding flights out of London as part of its expanded service for the summer months.

The flights will use a 189-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft. A one-way ticket to Edmonton starts at $139, with service starting April 28.

"Today's announcement is wonderful news for London and our region of Ontario", said Mike Seabrook, CEO of London International Airport in a release.

"I've kept an eye on them and there's some very good value in their fares and service" said Seabrook.

The ultra low-priced carrier announced on Tuesday it will add London, Ont., Kelowna, B.C., and Oakland, Calif.to its list of destinations this summer, while scaling back on some routes for the season, such as to Puerto Vallarta in Mexico. "We're confident that, with their aggressive pricing, they're going to stimulate the marketplace".

Ms Ardern added that being a prime minister and a new mum were "different roles" but "working beautifully together". New Zealand's prime minister has said she is "ready and willing" to sign a post-Brexit trade deal with the UK.

"These have been destinations that our travellers have been asking for and we are excited to continue working towards our goal of making air travel in Canada as affordable as possible for as many Canadians as possible", reads a statement from Swoop.

Keep in mind that Swoop is WestJet's ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC). It had to cancel flights to the U.S. after it initially failed to secure regulatory approval in the U.S. It was also the subject of an investigation by the competition bureau of "predatory pricing".

"We have positioned ourselves as a low-priced airport" said Lauren Stafford, Manager of Business Development and Marketing for the airport said in a statement.

"We're focused on being the "Easy and Comfortable" airport and Swoop's new service is a flawless fit".

According to airport officials, airport traffic increased by three per cent 2018, finishing at 536,000 passengers. The addition of the new Swoop flights, that number is expected to grow by a few hundred thousand.
