A 19-year-old man was arrested and charged with breaching the Civil Aviation Act.

The man's alleged to have made a threatening comment.

Air New Zealand flight NZ711 was taxiing for departure at about 9pm when passengers were told there was a "security incident", forcing the A320 aircraft back to the gate.

On Thursday, Manukau District Court heard Fifita was travelling home to Sydney from Tonga, transiting at Auckland, when he made the false threat.
