Christian Bale Thanked Satan In His Golden Globes Acceptance Speech

Christian Bale, who previously won a Golden Globe for his 2011 role in The Fighter, thanked his wife early in his speech, saying she had advised him to say less while he was up there because she knew how much trouble he could get in to.

Oh, and he let slip his guiding light on how he embodied Cheney.

Thank you to that geezer over there, Adam, he said "I've got to find somebody who can be absolutely charisma-free and reviled by everybody", so he went, "That's got to be Bale".

He said: "Thank you to my attractive wife, who told me, 'Less is more'".

Eighth Grade

The 44-year-old actor gained more than 40 pounds and bleached his eyebrows to play Cheney in Adam McKay's political satire, which traces the politician's rise to power.

Christian Bale won a Golden Globe for his role as Dick Cheney in "Vice", taking the time in his acceptance speech to thank Satan for inspiration in playing the former vice president and calling Cheney and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell "charisma-free assholes".

Honestly, a few reads through of the Necronomicon is probably step one on the path to preparing oneself to play any version of that utterly reprehensible tyrant Cheney, so this should come as less of a surprise than you may first think. "That could be good". "I've just eaten a lot of pies, so far, " he told Variety, prior to filming.
