Designed by Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing, the Veloster N TCR is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 350 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque.

The Veloster N TCR has made its official debut at the Detroit auto show, giving us our first look at the race vehicle. As Hyundai noted, the vehicle shares around 85 percent of its core components with the championship-winning i30 N TCR. It is connected to a six-speed sequential transmission which sends power to the front wheels. Life Racing handled the ECU, the power management system and the instrumentation.

The Veloster N TCR rides on MacPherson struts with adjustable dampers up front and a multi-link rear suspension, also with adjustable dampers.

The exterior, which features a ferocious widebody aero kit and enormous rear trellis wing, uses steel and composite fiber paneling for the bodywork. While that GT Sport model looked almost identical to the regular non-turbo Elantra GT, the new N Line trim does bring more aggressive body styling that is taken from the Euro-only i30 N hot hatch-and it brings real performance modifications, too. Minimum weight (including the driver) is 2833 pounds, which is 244 pounds lighter than a production Veloster N we recently tested(not including the driver).

The BBC reported that the animals became stuck in Roddickton-Bide Arm after the town's bay and surrounding water froze over. An RCMP spokesperson said it appears two of the animals were struck by a vehicle on Tuesday night.

Hyundai admits that the move works well for marketing its cars. It's the first less than full-blown N to hit the scene, following the Veloster N and the not-for-the-U.S. i30 N.

The 10-race series starts on January 25 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, with the season concluding eight months later at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia. Bryan Herta Autosport, the designated Veloster N TCR retailer in the US, will race two cars in the upcoming season.

The team's World Challenge competitors from last season, Michael Lewis and Mark Wilkins, will pair up in one auto, while Mason Filippi and Harry Gottsacker will drive the team's second Hyundai Veloster N TCR. We've always thought that the Elantra GT Sport was not quite there when it came to going against our favorite sport compacts such as the Honda Civic Si and the Volkswagen Golf GTI, so if these improvements get it even closer, that's a win in our book. Both the Veloster N TCR and the i30 N TCR can be backed by Hyundai with this plan. In the Blancpain GT World Challenge, the regular Hyundai Veloster N is eligible in the TC class as well. We have updated the story with photos of the Veloster N TCR and some additional information.
